Unit Security Contacts (USCs)
USC Responsibilities
- Employees who have been designated as Primary or Backup USC by the Dean, Director or Department Head (DDDH) of a given department/unit have been authorized to act on behalf of the DDDH to submit Enterprise Systems access requests via the applicable method/application/form.
- When an employee is appointed to be the Primary or Backup USC by the DDDH, the new USC should contact AITS System Access Management, aazsecu@uillinois.edu, to complete a walkthrough on how to use the AITS Security Application. Additionally, the USC can find information on how to request access to the Enterprise Data Warehouse.
- Before access requests are submitted, the USC should verify/confirm users have:
- Annually, the USC is required to review and confirm Enterprise System access for all users in units where they are designated a USC (The Primary or Backup USC may submit the review for each unit). USCs are not allowed to review and verify their own access, so the Primary USC should verify the Backup USC’s access and vice versa.
- USCs should submit remove access requests for users who leave the department and/or the University as soon as they are notified. Removing access to Enterprise Systems in a timely manner is a critical control for access management for the University. Please reference University of Illinois Enterprise Systems Access Removal for more information.
