In this training course, you will learn about Lean concepts and tools which will help uncover and eliminate unnecessary activities in your process so that you can make your work more efficient.  This course will be offered to university employees on a quarterly basis at each campus.
**If you have taken BPI Concepts in the past, this session of Lean Concepts covers the same concepts and tools.

Process Mapping Skills

Map your business processes using process maps to develop an understanding of the work you perform.  If a picture says a thousand words, what value would you put on the picture?  Learn how to create a picture of your business process to communicate to your team how your business work flows.  Learn about the different types of process maps, the tools used to process map, and how to create a map of your business process.

Facilitation Skills

This interactive workshop is intended for new facilitators who want to develop and/or improve their facilitation skills.  The course will cover the fundamental facilitation tools that can be applied to any type of facilitated session, whether it is a staff meeting, planning session, a brainstorming session, or any kind of meeting that you want to be meaningful and productive.

Process Improvement Leadership Training

The Process Improvement Leadership Training program is an intense three day program designed to develop participants in the art and science of facilitating process improvement efforts at the University of Illinois. This program is designed to take the participant through a combination of technical and leadership capabilities to use as a basis to facilitate process improvement engagements. At the completion of the three day training, the participant should be able to define, plan, execute, and sustain basic process improvement activities. These actions form the foundation to build an organization’s culture of continuous process improvement. The Process Improvement Leadership Training helps build “internal consultants” who can lead change within their department and throughout the University of Illinois.

The attendee will meet one day a week for three weeks and learn the methodology that the Business Process Improvement Shared Service has developed and currently uses on process improvement engagements. The methodology is a customized approach to assess current business practices and make recommendations for improvement.
