AITS strives to provide services aimed at the highest availability to end users while maintaining reliable and stable applications.
Standard maintenance window is on Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon
Extended maintenance window is on Sunday from 6:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
Special upgrades may require more than a 12 hour maintenance window
AITS utilizes Sundays from 6:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon to apply critical updates, maintenance or upgrades to application services. This includes software upgrades, server patching, and other critical activities that keep the enterprise systems reliable and stable.
Some maintenance cannot be completed within the 6 hour time frame but will be completed within the 12 hour window. The number of these activities vary throughout year from 3-7 times per year, depending on the year. An example of an extended outage is Solaris/Linux Server maintenance, which is done 3 times per year, and takes 8-12 hours to complete.
In rare cases, an upgrade or other critical task cannot be completed within 12 hours. When that occurs, users are notified as soon as AITS staff know that the work cannot be completed within the 12 hour window. An example of a rare outage is a Banner upgrade which upgrades all Banner modules and might take longer than 12 hours to complete.
