Dropbox Phishing Emails

Dropbox Phishing Emails
Posted on 06/06/2017

The University of Illinois has recently seen a number of spoofed requests to open documents in Dropbox. The requests come in an email and appears to come from a legitimate U of I email addresses, but the “sender” is not someone who would communicate with you over Dropbox and the subject line is blank or nonsensical.

The phish is an attempt to steal your login ID and password. Do not click on any links.

Report the email. Here’s how:

1. Click the ‘Forward’ button.
2. In the ‘To:’ type ‘report-spam@illinois.edu’
3. Click Send
4. Delete original email.

If you have any reason to believe the email is real, call the sender first and verify they sent it.
